Hello, I am Miguel
I work as a project manager. I am a parent. I am an expat living in Lisboa, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Started
Moving to Portugal wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something far greater.
In the early months, everything was intense — unfamiliar systems, new routines, and new expectations. Daily tasks felt more tangled than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built Hollow Echo Paper
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site ISN'T:
- Not a resource from tourism authorities
- A platform for paid reviews
- Simply a generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our time in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Lisboa or anywhere in Portugal, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Miguel
